7 Simple Skincare Secrets for Sensitive Skin

7 Simple  Skincare Secrets for Sensitive Skin
By Sharlene Davis

As a beauty therapist and make up artist, I think that sensitive skin can be one of the  most difficult skin types to care for. Irritants like cosmetics, the environment, dehydration and even sunlight can cause an angry skin reaction. Sensitive skin often becomes red, itchy and  irritated quite easily.

Follow these simple yet effective  skincare rules when caring for your sensitive skin.

1)Be observant of how your skin looks and feels after using cosmetic products.
  • If your skin feels dry and tight, if you develop rashes, if your skin  feels  hot or uncomfortable in any way- Stop using that product. Whether it is  a skincare or hair care product.
  •  Discontinue use of anything that causes your skin to react.

2)After cleansing your skin, use an alcohol free toner.
  •  An alcohol toner increases skin sensitivity.
  • Cellular Laboratories De-Aging Toner  is perfect for balancing  the PH  levels of your  skin.
  • I love using this, It makes my skin feel silky smooth.
  •  It cools, refreshes and soothes stressed skin.
  • It is packed with antioxidants and protects your  skin.
  • Has hyaluronic acid which plumps up  and moisturises the skin
  • Toning  should be an important  part of your daily skincare regime regardless of your skin type or condition.

3) Exposure to sunlight can cause your skin to react badly.

5)It is important that you check cosmetic ingredients.
  • When it comes to sensitive skin, less is definitely more.
  • Notice how products make your skin feel and discontinue use if your skin becomes reactive.

6)Cosmetics containing alcohol, perfume, fragrances, preservatives, dyes, parabens , talc  can cause skin sensitivity.
  • These ingredients  should be avoided by sensitive skin sufferers.
  •  Oatmeal , rose oil, chamomile, vitamin E are excellent for calming, soothing  and protecting your sensitive skin.
  • REN Mayday Mayday  Rescue Balm gives instant relief to irritated skin.

  •  Cosmetic companies like Mac and Estee Lauder give free trial size products in store.
  • Earthnicity  offer samples of   high quality mineral make up for sale at very reasonable prices . These are anti - inflammatory, free from skin  irritants, and have  natural minerals. They  come in a wide range of shades  and is suitable for all skin complexions.
